If you liked the movies Gladiator, 300 and enjoyed HBO's Rome I imagine you are going to be wearing your best toga on January 22nd when Starz premieres it's new original series Spartacus Blood and Sand. With Sam Raimi on Executive Producer duty this is not a show for minors nor the faint of heart and the first trailers released certainly suggests we are in for plenty of gladiatorial gore and a side dish or two of Roman Sauce (of the "that's what she said" variety).
Despite my concerns about casting Lucy Lawless as Lucretia I think the rest of the cast looks decent with John Hannah being a particularly smart choice.
