Pink Panther movies it could be described as a strange decision. I really find it hard to believe they couldn't convince a talented star to take on the hosting duties but we shall see how these guys work out, frankly the host is mostly just a distraction away from the actual awards for me so I can't say it will make much of a difference to my Oscar watching.

Let's not forget that Johnny Carson, the long-time Oscar host didn't have a real movie career, nor did Bob Hope have any significant movie role based on your criteria. Both were just good hosts in that traditional sense.
