While it's never easy for movie fans to lose a great screen actor Karl Malden at least lived until the rip old age of 97 and that's pretty cool. Malden best known for his role as Detective Lt Mike Stone in The Streets of San Francisco, died at his home in Brentwood, California today of natural causes. He was a star of both the Big & Small Screen appearing in many movies including an Oscar winning turn in A Streetcar Named Desire. He also appeared in such classics as On The Waterfront (where he performed his Oscar nominated role as Father Barry in my old stomping ground of Hoboken, NJ), Birdman of Alcatrazz, Nevada Smith and Patton.
