Australia a Letdown for North American Moviegoers

Reuters is reporting that Twentieth Century Fox is giving up efforts to promote Baz Luhrmann's Australia in the North American market due to such poor sales. After 5 weekends the US and Canadian market has returned just $44.3 million in 5 weekends.

"We were hoping to do more in the U.S., but it's tough. There's a lot of competition," said Bert Livingston, Fox's senior vice-president of domestic distribution.
