After a series of misfires Jim Carey's ability to pick good movies appears to be back on track with Yes Man which opens December 19th in the US and January in Australia. Returning to the kind of flick that brought him his fame (Liar Liar, The Truman Show, Dumb and Dumber ... I loved all three) and allowed him to then experiment successfully with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and less so with The Number 23 (what a turkey that one was) Yes Man looks like a great Holiday Season romp. It doesn't hurt that it features my favorite actress du jour, Zooey Deschanel, whom I gushed over when I reviewed The Happening back in September.It really is another Liar Liar only this time instead of having to tell the truth the whole time Carey challenges himself to say Yes to everything ... Yes is the new No! This is perfect for the comic acting he is such a master of combining the physical with the affable and winning the audience every time.
Take a look, if the family are coming to town for the Holidays this might be a much needed escape!
