The author of Jurassic Park and creator of the TV show ER died unexpectedly yesterday after battling cancer aged 66. Crichton wrote books and directed movies with his first foray into directing coming in 1973 with one of my favorite Yul Brenner movies, Westworld. It is less well known that Crichton was also a doctor as well as a TV and film producer.His creative worlds collided when his books were made into movies most famously with Jurassic Park but Sphere, Congo, Disclosure and Timeline also made the move from paper to celluloid.
Crichton is survived by his wife Sherri and daughter Taylor.
