Happy Days star and now film auteur Ron Howard is to be honored at this years Palm Springs Film Festival with a Director's Lifetime Achievement Award. The Festival which is now in it's 20th year runs January 6 through 19 and Howard's latest cinematic effort, Frost/Nixon will be shown during the festivities. The Festival is run by the Palm Springs International Film Society and has been attended by many stars throughout it's 20 year history from Jimmy Stewart to Sly Stallone making appearances. It is hardly surprising the festival enjoys such publicity with so many of Hollywood's elite having a second home in this desert town.Ron Howard himself has certainly been effective and productive since moving from acting to directing with an impressive resume of features. In this decade alone he has helmed:
How the Grinch Stole Christmas - 2000
A Beautiful Mind - 2001
The Missing - 2003
Cinderella Man - 2005
The Da Vinci Code - 2006
Frost/Nixon - 2008
Angels & Demons (post production) - 2009
His work in the 90s is no less impressive so congratulations really are in order for this filmmaker who seems so young (born 1954) to be receiving such an award.
