Scorsese and DeNiro Together Again

Would calling Scorsese and DeNiro the cinematic partnership equivalent to Lennon and McCartney be an overstatement? Maybe in terms of output but there is no denying the magical chemistry that comes from a movie where one directs and the other leads.

Let's review.

Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The King of Comedy, New York New York, Cape Fear, Good Fellas, Casino and now I Heard You Paint Houses. In this new movie DeNiro is slated to play Frank 'The Irishman' Sheeran who was linked to a number of 'hits' before his death in 2004 including the dismemberment of Teamster boss, Jimmy Hoffa. Scorsese has only just contracted Steve Zaillian (Schindler's List, Gangs Of New York & American Gangster ... not too shabby!) to adapt the book into a screenplay so we are probably looking at a 2010 release.

Other than New York, New York which I haven't seen all the other movies these men have worked together on have been top quality. It's dangerous in the movie business to predict any flick as a sure thing but you have to admit the results of this partnership come pretty close.
