Oliver Crawford died in Los Angeles on September 24th aged 91 after a career writing for shows that included Kojak, Gilligans Island, Quincy and Star Trek.Crawford got caught up in the Hollywood Communist witch hunts of the 1950's. Shortly after being contracted to work for Burt Lancaster Crawford was called before the sub-committee of the House Un-Americans Committee. He refused to cooperate in the naming of anyone which led to him being black listed and then fired from his contract.
Once the madness of that era had ended he came back to the industry and served on the board of directors of the Writers Guild of America for 26 years.
