Something a Little Different

'One Night Cinema' is an effort to bring foreign and independent movies to Arizona and specifically Tempe in conjunction with Pollack Tempe Cinemas. It has been running since 2004 when a local film fan wanted to continue to give moviegoers access to these kind of movies after the closure of the Madstone Theater. It was my first time attending one of the screenings (review of Sixty-Six to follow!) and I was pleased to see such a good turn out of all age ranges on a Sunday afternoon.

The Fall 2008 ONC Film Selections are:

SEPTEMBER 12 - OWL AND THE SPARROW (VIETNAM)
SEPTEMBER 19 - Sixty-Six (UK)
SEPTEMBER 26 - TUYA'S MARRIAGE (MONGOLIA)
SEPTEMBER 26 - SMILE - A SHORT FILM BY JULIA KWAN (CANADA)
OCTOBER 10 - THE SINGING REVOLUTION (ESTONIA/USA)
OCTOBER 17 - The Order of Myths (USA)In 2007

You have to commend and support efforts like these to give us a choice from what the multiplex decides to show us so I will be definitely be back!

If you are in AZ and want to check out one of the movies showing click here.
