I read recently that the Brett Easton Ellis book and movie of the same name, American Psycho, is to be made into a musical! www.youhavetobe kidding.com right? I will admit I have never been a fan of people overacting while singing (musicals to you) but this really does seem to be one adaptation too far. The movie itself was pretty decent but could never be expected to live up to such an extraordinary book. To this day I recall being on the tube in London commuting to work and having to stop reading for fear of barfing over my fellow commuters.
Inexplicably Ellis himself is a producer on the project and the show hopes to be in front of an audience by 2010. I imagine the saving grace will be the songs themselves which will be wonderfully 80s in style including such legends as Huey Lewis, Talking Heads and (yawn) Genesis.
It's hard to say you enjoyed the book so much but hate the idea of a musical without sounding like a psycho yourself, oh well.
