Having grown up in 1970s England I was a big fan of the BBC show that aired on BBC America over the last couple of years, Life on Mars. It was a show dealing with a Manchester detective, Sam Tyler, who after being hit by a car wakes up as a 'copper' in 1973 and has to try and get back to present day England. The show was fantastic for anyone who remembers the cars, clothes and music of the era and the BBC did a great job of recreating the look and feel of Northern England during that time.So now we have the US version coming to ABC this fall replacing the hit Boston Legal. Jason O'Mara is playing the lead role of Sam Tyler in this version set in New York in 1973 and he is joined by one of my favorite Soparanos stars, Michael Imperioli. I am not familiar with the work O'Mara has done but he brings a certain pedigree having performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The show premieres on October 9th 10/9c so we have a bit of a wait to see it but no doubt there will be more teaser videos coming soon on abc.com.
P.S Attention Trek fans, Chief O'Brien returns to our screens in this show!

Actually, Colm Meaney who played Gene Hunt in the scrapped pilot has been replaced in the role by Harvey Keitel. Not to say that Meaney couldn't have pulled it off if he was given the chance. However, I feel Keitel certainly has the intensity that the role demands.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update. I am a Meaney fan but Harvey Keitel is one heck of a replacement.
